Offseasons I LIke: The Jacksonville Jaguars
I'm not the guy to give out grades for drafts, etc., but I also think it's narrow minded to just look at a draft when you gauge what a team has done to improve. Some teams like Green Bay primarily rely on the draft, while others either typically go after free agents (Miami, I'm looking at you) or do it in key offseasons when they are poised to take a leap forward.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of those teams. Before we look at how they've overhauled their team this offseason, let's remind ourselves of what they were by the end of last year. The offense seemed to really emerge as a promising one with potential studs at QB in Blake Bortles, WR with Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns (with good depth there as well), T.J. Yeldon at RB and Julius Thomas at TE. The defense, however, was a mess.
When looking at who the Jags added this offseason, count Dante Fowler, Jr. in there - the #3 pick a year ago missed the entire season with an ACL, but is expected back at "full" strength, whatever that is.
Here's who else they notably added:

My GOODNESS, that's an off-season. You don't like the defensive backfield? It will get better with Amakamura, Ramsey and Gipson, that's for sure. How about that defensive line? Malik Jackson, Ngakoue and Sheldon Day will make a difference. And adding Myles Jack means that the team shored up every level of the defense in important, impressive ways.
While I thought that Ivory was a luxury, it enabled them to truly focus on defense in this draft and shore up the running game in the process. I even like that they got another long-term backup prospect in Brandon Allen at QB. The team really focused on defense as it needed to, and seems to have smartly improved this team in almost every critical area.

I assume that when history looks back on this draft, people will wonder why every team except the Patriots passed on Myles Jack at least once. His issue is that his career might be short, and I do get why that eliminates him from the top half of the first round. But the Packers, who are poised to win in the next four to five years, couldn't use their first pick on him?
For rebuilding teams (like my 49ers) it isn't worth the risk - his career could be ending as the team realizes its potential - but so many other teams whiffed. Good on the Jags.
The AFC South in general all improved - Texans, Colts and Titans are all worth their own analysis. But this is a team that showed it could score against most NFL defenses, and now it has some very good parts to try and stop others from doing that against them. It's time for the Jaguars to take an important step forward and I think this team will be REALLY fun to watch as it tries to do just that.
