A few months ago, there was some consternation about the emergence of people wearing hoodies while playing golf. It was part of the USA uniform at the Ryder Cup, and people got very much in a tizzy about it. And that kept going for individual players.
I’ve been on record as saying that wearing joggers while playing just LOOKS bad. I don’t think it should be banned - people should wear whatever they want, as long as it adheres to the course’s policies - but I think it is just not a great look. But hoodies? Why care?
Compare that to the last two weeks. Here is the decorum of the PGA tour on display at Pebble Beach:

And here is last weekend, at the WM Phoenix Open.
To be clear, I LIKE these last two things. (I mean, I’m not crazy about Alfonso Ribeiro or the entire pro-am, but it’s fun and amusing and we need more of that in our lives, so let’s roll.)
The tour needs to choose a lane. Are you going to be a league that wants to have fun and get casual fans excited? Or are you going to ban hoodies and encourage exclusivity?
It's also a bad look to treat "hoodies" as the problem, as that's also what white America identifies as a sign of a problem, i.e. person of color. They need to make a dress code or shut the fuck up
