Sounds fun at a lightly-populated resort course. I can't see how the tee-sheet would look at a regular club. Anyone playing the 'El Camino' routing will be quickly catch up the the last regular 18h groups.
Well, each club would need to figure out what gap they needed to put between, but I also think that any group playing a short course isn't speeding through it. I can't tell you how many times i'll play a course like Bandon Preserve and hit, then try another shot trying to be creative, etc. I think that would be in play here, too.
yeah what Paul said. I envision weird traffic jams. And those playing the full 18 looking down with ridicule at the poor chumps because "They can't afford 18" or think the 9 holers simply suck at the game.
Love the idea. Approach shot is my favorite part of the game. And I’m sure I would have had more fun playing such a course at Whistling Straits and Pinehurst vs the actual courses. The experience would lose a little something given the distance between holes and need for a cart, but notwithstanding, I’m in!
Yeah I do think carts end up making more sense here than elsewhere which is a negative but also given the vibes of playing a short course and working on approach shots only, it might make it more fun too! I just love the idea of courses "discovering" a short course on the existing holes, not needing any additional land, etc.
